Diploma of Game Design

The Diploma of Game Design is a practical, fast-paced introduction to designing games across digital and non-digital formats. You’ll build foundational skills by focusing on making games from day one including; learning gameplay systems, interactive narrative, prototyping and player experience design.

Bachelor of Game Design

The Bachelor of Game Design is an advanced, career-focused degree for those aiming to work professionally in the games industry. You’ll design and develop games across multiple formats including digital, tabletop and interactive narrative. You’ll complete major projects, industry placement and a final-year capstone that showcases your skills to studios, publishers and employers.

Choosing the right Game Design course depends on your experience level, career goals and how quickly you want to enter the games industry. Whether you’re building foundational game design skills or working toward advanced creative and professional pathways, Collarts offers Game Design qualifications designed to support different stages of your game design career.


Entry Requirements and Eligibility

Collarts’ Game Design courses do not require an ATAR, making them accessible to students from a wide range of educational and creative backgrounds.

Admission is based on your interest in games, interactive storytelling and player experience, along with your motivation to develop industry-ready skills. Previous game design experience is not required for entry-level study.

Application pathways include:

Direct applications for domestic and international students

Year 12 applicants applying through VTAC or UAC

After submitting an application for a Diploma or Bachelor of Game Design, a Collarts Future Student Advisor will contact you to discuss your creative interests, study goals and next steps.

Successful applicants will receive a formal offer to commence their chosen Game Design qualification at Collarts.
