Certificate IV in Circus Arts is delivered by the National Institute of Circus Arts, our educational partner, in their purpose-built, world-class facilities in Prahran.
This course is a dynamic entry point into high-performance circus training. You’ll build a tailored training program focused on your chosen area of expertise and collaborate on an ensemble performance. students can choose one of three elective specialisations: Specialty Artist, Circus Coach, or Show Technical Support.
Throughout your studies, you’ll be guided by a passionate team of experienced artists and industry leaders who deliver a forward-thinking curriculum. With a strong focus on technical excellence, the program also supports your personal strengths and fosters authentic artistic expression.
At NICA, students have access to a range of performance opportunities across our venues. Whether participating in public productions or smaller in-house showings, you’ll gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of professional circus performance.
Our Certificate IV in Circus Arts program will lay the foundation for entry into the Bachelor of Circus Arts – subject to a successful audition or create the footwork of an exciting career in the performing arts.

Circus Coach
Share your passion for circus by stepping into the role of junior coach. In this stream, you’ll gain hands-on experience planning and delivering classes under supervision and supporting participants to achieve both short- and long-term goals. Develop essential leadership and communication skills while inspiring the next generation of circus talent.
Specialty Artist
Build your performance confidence and creativity by developing solo or partner acts that reflect your unique style. In this stream, you'll explore contemporary circus trends, broaden your skillset, and apply foundational techniques to act creation and performance. Whether you're testing ideas for future work or forging a solo path, this stream supports your growth as an emerging artist.
Show Technical Support
Go behind the curtain and into the engine room of circus production. This stream equips you with the foundational and practical skills needed for roles in lighting, sound, stage management, costume, props, safety and more. Learn how shows run smoothly and safely through rehearsals, technical runs and live productions, and build foundational knowledge in production design and backstage operations.
