These Winter Holidays we're opening our doors to Victorian High School students in years 10, 11 and 12 to take part in a series of practical, hands-on workshops.

Come and experience what it's like to live a day in the life of a Collarts student. We have 9 workshops to choose from across 2 days. See our full list of workshops below.

*Please note, this is only open to High School students going into years 10, 11 or 12 in 2026/27.

*Lunch will be provided for full-day workshops and snacks will be provided for half-day workshops.

SATURDAY 11TH JULY 2026

GAME DESIGN | PAPER PROTOTYPING

Full-day - 9:30am - 4:30pm

Having an idea for a game is great, but you need to know whether or not it's going to be worth the time, effort and investment to take it through to production. So the very first step is a paper prototype. This workshop introduces you to how to go about organising and making a paper prototype for testing out your game idea and iterating on the idea to a point where it's ready to take to production!

FASHION MARKETING | EDITORIAL FASHION EDITING WORKSHOP

Half-day - 9:30am - 12:30pm

Discover the art of editorial fashion styling in our immersive workshop! Dive into the world of creating captivating editorial content and images for fashion media. Learn the secrets of styling techniques and gain hands-on experience working with a live model and mannequins in a photographic studio. Learn skills in concept development, lighting, and composition to produce editorial images to communicate compelling stories.

SCREEN & MEDIA | THE WRITER'S ROOM

Half-day - 9:30am - 12:30pm

In this practical writers room workshop you will work together to develop story ideas and characters into a screenplay! Bring your excellent ideas, collaborate with peers and an industry professional, and learn how to turn that idea into a full fleshed out film.

2D ANIMATION | PERSPECTIVE DRAWING

Half-day - 9:30am - 12:30pm
Cromwell St Campus | 67/69 Cromwell St, Collingwood

This workshop introduces the fundamental principles of perspective drawing, providing students with the skills to create convincing depth, and spatial relationships in their artwork. Through demonstrations, guided exercises, and practical applications, participants will explore one-point, two-point, and three-point perspective techniques commonly used in illustration, animation and concept art.

ENTERTAINMENT MANAGEMENT | MUSIC DISCOVERY, TALENT SCOUTING & MARKETING

Half-day 9:30am - 12:30pm

This hands-on workshop will give you a taste of two key areas of the industry: talent scouting and music discovery & marketing. In this interactive session, you’ll take on the role of a talent scout, discovering emerging artists and developing strategies to launch their careers. You’ll also learn about the creative process of music marketing and how to promote an artist. Whether you're interested in managing or marketing talent, this workshop will show you how the entertainment industry brings talent and creativity together.

MUSIC PRODUCTION | SYNTHESIZING SOUND

Half-day - 9:30am - 12:30pm

This workshop is an introduction to synthesizers, covering basic analog style subtractive synthesis, as well as wavetable and FM. Attendees will learn how synthesis can be used to shape raw tones into unique instruments with character and purpose.

FASHION & SUSTAINABILITY | EMBELLISH YOUR WARDROBE

Half-day - 9:30am - 12:30pm

Transform one of your own garments or accessories through a range of embellishment techniques such as embroidery and beading. With a selection of embellishments provided, you’ll be refreshing and personalising an item from your wardrobe to extend the life span and for you to renew your own connection with this garment. In this workshop. Collarts will provide a range of trims, beads, and other materials to help you customise your item, however, you are also encouraged to bring your own trims to enhance your project.

INTERIOR DESIGN | MODEL MAKING

Full-day - 9:30am - 4:30pm

Are you ready to dive into the exciting world of Interior Design? Join us for a hands-on, fun-filled full day workshop where you'll transform your design ideas into a 3D Model. You’ll kick off with an introduction to the design process, learning how to brainstorm ideas, sketch layouts, and select materials. Working with a range of materials like cardboard, foam core and material samples you’ll take your ideas from concept to creation. With expert tips along the way, you'll develop your own unique model and gain invaluable insights into the world of interior design. By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with your very own 3D model, showcasing your creativity and newfound skills.

Discover what it takes to bring massive live events, music festivals, and cultural pop-ups to life. This fast-paced, 3-hour session introduces students to the dynamic career pathways within the live entertainment industry. Through real-world simulations and collaborative planning challenges, you'll learn the fundamentals of talent booking, festival site design, and crisis operations, turning a creative vision into a practical, live experience.
