Globe-trotting troubadour Carus Thompson has toured the world alongside The John Butler Trio, The Waifs, Xavier Rudd, Jack Johnson & Pete Murray, selling over 30,000 albums along the way. He’s played all the major festivals and most of the venues big and small around Australia, as well as touring Europe for twenty-five years.
A renowned songwriter and storyteller, Carus has just released his 9th self-funded album.
He’s always been self-managed and independent, forging his own path without label backing or corporate support. Since 2015, he has also managed 90’s folk-rock band Things of Stone and Wood.
It was this combination of do-it yourself business nous, and extensive international and national experience that caught the attention of the prestigious West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where he worked before landing at Collarts, back in 2020.
In 2021 he moved back to his hometown of Walyalup/Fremantle on Nyoongar Country in Western Australia and has continued to work at Collarts, where he loves being part of this inspired and wonderful creative community.
