“I’ve always been drawn to fashion, especially the fun side of experimenting with styling myself and my friends. Before Collarts, I didn’t initially see myself working in the fashion industry—I actually wanted to study nursing. But after starting a Christmas casual job at Kookai, I realised how much I loved the creativity and energy of retail. That experience inspired me to shift directions, and studying Fashion Marketing felt like the perfect way to turn that passion into a career.”

Alongside her studies, Olivia is now working as a Buyer Administrator at Forever New, supporting the buying team with product tracking, supplier communication, and managing the journey from development to store.
“I’ve recently started as a Buyer Administrator at Forever New. My role involves supporting the buying team with product tracking, supplier communication, and ensuring everything runs smoothly from development to store. It’s been such a great way to apply what I’m learning at Collarts directly into a real-world role.”
For Olivia, one of the standout aspects of Collarts has been the people.
“The biggest highlight has been connecting with like-minded people who share the same passion for fashion. The hands-on projects and industry-focused approach make it feel like we’re already part of the fashion world, not just studying it.”
Managing study and industry work isn’t always easy, but Olivia has found strategies that work.
“I’d say be organised and proactive – time management is key. Don’t be afraid to take opportunities even if they feel a little out of your comfort zone. And always communicate openly with your lecturers and workplace; they’re usually very supportive if you show commitment and initiative.”
As she steps further into her career, Olivia is inspired by the changes happening across the industry.
“I’m most excited about how the industry is evolving with sustainability and inclusivity. There’s a real shift towards making fashion more meaningful and representative, and being part of that change at the start of my career feels really inspiring.”
