After the intensity of exams, receiving your results can be a life-changing moment. Whether it makes your heart sing or has you rethinking your next steps, Change of Preference is your chance to reflect on everything you’ve worked towards this year.
Although it’s a short window to make decisions, Change of Preference lets you rethink your study options and the direction of your future career, acting as a safety net to make sure your preferences truly reflect what you want.
Here at Collarts, we’re all about encouraging students from every background to pursue what they love and explore the creative industries they want to be part of. With diplomas, degrees and post-grad options in Entertainment, Design and Performing Arts, we think Change of Preference is the perfect time to reconnect with what you want from your studies — and your future.
And if you already know Collarts is where you want to be? You don’t have to wait for Change of Preference. Our Priority Pass early entry program lets you lock in your place before results even come out.
Priority Pass is our early entry program for driven Year 12 students who are ready to back themselves and get ahead. With Priority Pass, you can apply now, secure your place before results are released, and head into the end of the year with one less thing to stress about.
How it works:
Step 1: Fill out the Priority Pass application form
Step 2: We’ll contact you to arrange an entry conversation — it’s basically a relaxed chat about your creative passions, your goals, and how they align with your course
Step 3: You’ll receive your outcome within 48 hours. If successful, we’ll send you a conditional offer for a place at Collarts (pending Year 12 completion and your VTAC application)
Step 4: Head to vtac.edu.au to create your account and list your Collarts course as your top preference
Step 5: Receive and accept your official Collarts offer through VTAC on December 23, 2025
First of all, congrats! When offers arrive, just follow the steps VTAC supplies to accept your offer. If you’re accepting your offer with Collarts, do it as soon as you can. That way, we can enrol you, send all your info and get you ready for O-Week.
If you hit any snags or you’re unsure, our Future Student Team is here to help — reach out anytime.
If you applied to Collarts but didn’t get an offer in the December or January VTAC Rounds, don’t stress. It could simply mean Collarts wasn’t high enough on your preference list or that you still need to complete an interview or audition.
Important Dates:
- December Round Offers: Tuesday, 23rd December 2025
- January Round Offers: Tuesday, 13th January 2026
- February Round Offers: Tuesday, 3rd February 2026
If you need to shuffle your preferences or book an interview or audition, our Future Student Team will help you through it. And remember — if you know Collarts is your top choice, Priority Pass is still an option if you act before the main VTAC offers are finalised.
Change of Preference is the period after your VTAC offers when you can update your preferences based on your results or a change of heart. It doesn’t cost anything extra — as long as you’ve paid your course application processing fee — and you can reshuffle, add or remove courses as much as you like during the window.
Not at Collarts. We don’t base our applications on ATAR scores. Instead, if you’ve successfully completed Year 12, we’ll assess your application through an interview, audition or folio.
So even if your ATAR isn’t what you hoped, you’ve still got a real shot at pursuing what you love here. Change of Preference is the perfect time to apply, book your entry conversation, and get considered for a spot.
After each offer round, VTAC opens Change of Preference the following day. It’s all done through your VTAC account — just log in and follow the steps to adjust your preference list.
We’d love to welcome you here at Collarts. Here’s how to make it happen:
- Log into your VTAC account and open your preference list
- Order your preferences — the only way to secure your Collarts offer is to list us as your top preference
- Book an interview, audition or entry conversation with us — we don’t base offers on ATAR, but you do need to chat to our team
- Submit your updated preferences before:
- Saturday, 13th December 2025 for December Round Offers
- Tuesday, 22nd December 2025 at 4pm for January Round Offers
List them in the order of what you truly want — not what you think you’ll get. VTAC processes your application based on your preferences from top to bottom, so putting your dream course at the top gives you the best chance of landing it.
Just make sure you meet the course selection criteria and double-check that your course is still open.
The good news? You’ve still got options. You can’t delete a course after being offered it, but you can move it down your list, reshuffle your preferences or add new courses.
Adding Collarts to your list, even after First Round offers, is still possible. You can also apply directly or chat to our team to explore your options.
Your creative future starts here
Whether you want to secure your place early with Priority Pass or make Collarts your top VTAC preference, we’re here to help you take the next step.
