Sam Swain

Lecturer

Sam Swain is a producer, mixer and musician based in Melbourne, Australia. With over a decade of experience in the music industry, he specialises in recording, production and mixing, working closely with artists to shape their sound from initial idea through to release. Sam co-runs Sunset Pig Recording in Collingwood, where he manages and delivers a wide range of studio projects.

He has collaborated with artists including Josh Cashman, RAT!hammock, Obscura Hail and IV Dante. His work has also involved projects connected with organisations such as Mushroom Group, Remote Control/Dot Dash Recordings, Gaga Music and PIAS.

Alongside his industry work, Sam is a lecturer at Collarts, teaching music production and acoustics. His teaching is grounded in practical, hands-on learning, with a focus on helping students actually finish work, solve real problems, and develop their own creative judgement. He places a strong emphasis on collaboration, critical listening and building workflows that translate directly to industry practice.

Students working with Sam gain confidence using professional tools and approaches, leaving with skills that feel relevant beyond the classroom and into real-world music environments.
