Emily Ulman

Lecturer

Emily Ulman is a Melbourne-based venue booker, festival programmer, producer, publicist, musician, radio presenter, and live music advocate. Over nearly two decades she curated shows at iconic Melbourne venues like The Prince Bandroom, Gasometer Hotel, The Toff in Town, Boney, The Kelvin Club, and the Post Office Hotel. 


She is the Managing Director and Program Director of Isol-Aid, an award-winning online music festival launched during COVID-19, which helped sustain live music in Australia.  Ulman also serves as Music Programmer for the Brunswick Music Festival.  In addition, she was appointed Program Director of Always Live, a Victorian government live-music initiative. 


Early in her career, Ulman worked at The Prince Bandroom, starting in admin and eventually taking over bookings. She’s known for her diverse and inclusive programming and has been a longtime champion of Melbourne’s local music scene. She’s also been recognised for her leadership: in 2023, she received the Creative Leadership award at the Australian Women in Music Awards.
