Lecturer
EMMA VALENTE is a freelance director, dramaturg, lighting designer and occasional trouble maker. She is the Co Artistic director and Co CEO of feminist theatre company THE RABBLE.
Emma is the recipient of the Creators Fund grant from Creative Victoria, a Sidney Myer Fellow, a Curator at Large (performance) at The SUBSTATION and received a Life Time Achievement award for Technical Achievement from The Green Room Awards.
Emma has directed works that have been performed at Red Stitch, Malthouse Theatre, PICA, Arts Emerson(Boston), Noorderzon Festival (Groningen), Dar es Salaam Little Theatre, OzAsia Festival, iBox Theatre (Penang) , Box Office Theatre (Phnom Penh), Arts Centre Melbourne, Colgate University (New York), Puebla City Theatre, Adolfo Llauradó Theatre (Havana) Berlin Theatertreffen, Dublin Fringe Festival, Wuzhen Festival (China), Vitalstatistix, Arts House, St Martins, Melbourne International Arts Festival, Dark MOFO, Brisbane Festival, Belvoir Theatre, MTC, The Substation, Theatre Works, CarriageWorks and La Mama.
