Simon Breese

Lecturer

Simon Breese is a designer, illustrator, and writer based in Melbourne who is a firm believer that good design, art, and education can make a difference.
Having studied design and cross-media at Torrens/Billy Blue, RMIT, and Victoria University has given him the opportunity to put his learning into practise.

Raised by a Teacher himself, Simon found his way into design and ideation. It was not uncommon to find him in a museum, library, record store or comic book shop. Simon completed his Bachelor of Communications Design at Torrens University/Billy Blue where he was chosen to represent his fellow graduates for the award ceremony. Simon became involved with AGDA, the Australian Graphic Design Association, and later served as Vice-Chair for Victoria.

Before then, Simon entered work in the 2019 AGDA Design Awards and was a finalist in the Print and Craft categories. Alongside volunteering for AGDA, Simon has been freelancing and providing work for businesses and organisations such as Unicef, The NGV, among others. His work was a finalist in the Penguin Books UK Cover Design Award.

During his studies, Simon actively assisted the students around him. Formally as a member of Student Councils and informally by helping at Open Days and Public Events with Guest Speakers. He loves to learn, take in new information and happy to share it where it may help others.

In hindsight, Simon was always drawn to teaching. It combines his regard for education, his love of creativity, and occasionally having to refer to himself in third person.
