Juliet Rowe

Juliet Miranda Rowe a cross-disciplinary artist, writer, performer and educator based in Naarm best known for bold yet tender illustration and animation. Holding a Bachelor Of Fine Arts Drawing from the Victorian College Of The Arts and A Bachelor of Animation and Interactive Media from RMIT University.
Over the past decade Rowe's illustration, and soft sculpture has been featured in shows throughout some of Melbourne's most prestigious arts institutions. Such as: Bus Projects, West Space, Gertrude Contemporary Glasshouse & NGV International.

Since pivoting into the moving image in 2016 Rowe balances their personal practice with commercial services collaborating with community organisations, film makers and other creatives. She's contributed to several critically acclaimed documentary projects such as Strong Women (AACTA Award), Brazen Hussies (AACTA Nominated ), and ABLAZE (Victorian Premier’s Award).

As a digital creative with a background as an exhibiting artist Rowe is interested in exploring ways of integrating animation with live experience, projection and site-specific spaces. In 2022 they were State Library Of Victoria's Children's Literature Fellow where they researched the states Movable Toy Book Collection. 

Outside of studio practice Rowe has worked as an Animation and Digital Arts educator through RMIT University, Footscray Community Arts ArtLife Program, Arts Access Victoria, VCASS and COLLARTS. Hearing imparied Rowe is a disability advocate which informs her teaching approach. Which aims to be is truma informed and playful. Believing that creativity is birthed from a childlike place of exporation that can only really be accessed when students feel safe enough to make mistakes.
