Lecturer
Jason Lau is a Melbourne based lifestyle and fashion photographer with over 15 years of experience across commercial and editorial projects. He produces campaign imagery, brand photography and professional portraiture for established brands and independent businesses. His work spans outdoor adventure assignments, fashion editorials and studio based productions, often informed by cinematic references.
Beyond commissioned work, Jason leads workshops and educational activations focused on studio lighting and fashion photography. He has also worked as an ambassador for photographic and motorcycle brands, developing creative partnerships through campaigns, events and community engagement.
Jason teaches Commercial Photography at Collarts, focusing on multiple sectors, alongside professional practice. His classes emphasise technical foundations, preparation and the professional standards expected within industry. He encourages curiosity and investigation, challenging students to examine why they make certain visual choices and to consider the impact created. Central to his teaching is personal development, supporting students to understand their own direction, to build a practice grounded in intention and long term growth.
