Head of Audio Engineering Jason Torrens is an in-demand drummer, teacher and Pro Tools Certified 310M Expert with an AVID ACSR 400 qualification. With over 15 years of education experience—from five-year-olds to top-level VCE solo performance students—JT comes to Collarts with extensive musical knowledge and audio skills to impart.
He holds a Bachelor Degree in Applied Music / Audio Production and a Graduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching. As the builder, owner and manager of Debasement Recording Studios, JT has worked with clients from Bodyjar, You Am I, Slipknot and hundreds more.
His talent for drumming has seen him play with dozens of artists such as 28 Days and Bugdust, alongside his own bands: Cisco Caesar, Mono Delux and Telecastro.
Audio Engineering Program Coordinator Dylan Mitrovich comes with 18 years of experience using Pro Tools. A Music Technology major, Dylan is a classically trained pianist and guitarist, teaching music for all ages within the education sector.
He’s spent the last 5 years primarily touring the world as a live audio engineer and tour manager. During a one year stint in New York City, he worked with a host of Australian and international artists in theatres, arenas, and some of the world’s biggest festivals.
Dylan's passion lies in the combination of the technical and the creative—whether it be behind the live soundboard or in the studio. Recently, he’s spent his time working in live sound but he equally spends much time in his home studio.
Award-winning composer and pianist, Amy Jørgensen creates music that’s harmonically rich, emotional, and cinematic in style.
Amy's unique style has been sought-after for collaborations on numerous well-known screen projects, including Home & Away, Bluey, Winners & Losers and award-wining game, Agent A: A Puzzle in Disguise. She's also written music for National Geographic, Netflix, 21st Century FOX, Nickelodeon and The Disney Channel.
Amy worked with Hollywood film-maker James Cameron on the music score for his documentary, Deepsea Challenge 3D, which earned Amy an Australian Academy Award nomination for "Best Original Score". She holds an Associate Diploma in Piano Performance and is the Founder and Director of Virtual Piano Academy, an innovative and acclaimed online piano school for adults.
Dan Murtagh is Pro Tools certified and teaches a variety of audio subjects at Collarts. Based at Debasement Studios, Dan showcases a modern style of production that pushes the boundaries of musicians and the way we use audio technology.
Working on production for various albums and singles, sound design for films and online media, Dan’s ear for detail and strong musicianship ensures that artists are always striving for the best in their performances. Luke Cincotta is a well-renowned producer, engineer, and mixer. With over 9 years of experience working in-house at one of Australia’s highest-profile studios, Luke’s production style is extremely versatile and is aimed at helping artists from all backgrounds realise and exceed their highest creative goals.
Alongside teaching at Collarts, Luke's outstanding and exciting brand of work has led him to credits for internationally-recognised artists like A$AP Ferg, Sia, Karnivool, The Amity Affliction and more.
Luke has also had the opportunity to work with and study under the wing of some of the world's most legendary producers including Mike Fraser (AC/DC, Metallica), Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd) and Forrester Savell (Karnivool, The Butterfly Effect).
An award-winning performer, engineer and business consultant, Sean Hutton is a multi-faceted created arts professional. Sean has worked and experienced almost all corners of the industry and is now imparting his wisdom to Collarts students.
Awarded Musician of the Year (NT), Sean has two decades of live performance experience; national/international touring, countless festivals and television. Much of his career has been dedicated to audio engineering, producing and working in the tertiary education industry.
Hailing from La Reunion, France, Steeve Body combines his love for instrumental music, film and technology in his longstanding career. A screen composer, multi-instrumentalist, sound designer, record producer, engineer and educator, he comes with a wealth of experience after 15 years in the Australian industry. Steeve has owned and operated studios; engineered world-renowned artists like De La Soul, Yothu Yindi and Seal; composed music for major brand TV campaigns such as Pandora, Tourism NSW, Holden, and scored several films.
After graduating with a Music Production degree in 2003, Steeve found his passion in film and television. He has since spent his time working in production, songwriting and engineering while working as a freelance sound mixer and sound designer for film and television. With two Emmy Awards and a BAFTA nomination under his belt, Guus Hoevenaars joins Collarts with a wealth of wisdom in producing, mixing and engineering.
Having produced and recorded albums from all genres—think jazz, to pop, to classical—Guus has mixed music for the likes of the Scissor Sisters, The Pierces and produced for Manfred Mann, Asia, Clay, Pony & Trap and more. Guus developed his skills working closely with Darin Prindle, Phil Tan and Carlton Lynn — who have worked with Madonna, Coldplay and Pink respectively.
In London, Guus worked from Trvor Horn’s Music Bank, Jools Holland’s studio and Manfred Mann’s Workshouse Studios.
