Working on the Garfield film is one way to switch things up from a music career - and that’s exactly how Mark Pullyblank kicked off his venture into animation. He’s since been a Senior Animator at Sony Pictures Imageworks, Animation Supervisor at Rainmaker Digital, Frantic Films and worked throughout Weta Digital. With films like Avatar, Watchmen and Journey to the Center of the Earth under his belt, Mark comes with a wealth of industry wisdom. In addition to lecturing at Collarts, he currently works as the Head of 3D Animation at CG Spectrum, while also working at California State University and undertaking freelance and consulting at film and game studios.
Daniel Hourigan helms the FX Department at CG Spectrum, with over 10 years of experience in 3D animation and Film VFX. Holding a degree in Industrial Design with a focus on 3D Design and Animation, the Senior Houdini Artist is well-versed in professional VFX software, namely Houdini and Nuke. Daniel boasts a remarkable portfolio, working as the Lead FX Artist on Aquaman, Tombraider and Game of Thrones among others. His skills have seen him lead at Double Negative in London and locally at Melbourne’s Method Studios.
3D Animator and Abstract Painter Spectra Sani loves to visualise things from a different perspective and is a firm believer that art should be expressed through different mediums. She comes with a passion for telling stories, bringing characters to life, and blending the bridge between art and technology. Spectra’s foray into the field began at Pixar, where she flexed her skills as an Animation Intern before landing roles at Playstation, Hinterland Studio, and leading the way as Senior Cinematic Animator at Digital Domain. Alongside a decade of industry knowledge, she holds an array of major titles under her belt from Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End to Advantageous to Far Cry 6.
Bryan Bentley brings his award-winning experience to Collarts, while simultaneously leading as Head of the 3D Modeling Department at CG Spectrum. With specialties in 3D Modeling, Rigging, Creature FX, Python Programming, Rigid Simulation and Geometry Fracturing for Destruction, his expertise positions him well to teach the craft, holding teaching and professorship roles at institutions like Savannah College of Art and Design in Hong Kong, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and the University of Technology in Rzeszow, Poland. In addition to his experience as Creature Technical Director at Industrial Light & Magic in Singapore, Bryan comes with a host of accolades including an Oscar for Best Animated Film on Rango, an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects on The Golden Compass, Alvin and the Chipmunks which boasts the 5th Highest Christmas Opening in cinema history. Not to mention his work on the HULK, Transformers 3 & 4, Pacific Rim and Warcraft.
Having been in the video game industry since 2005, Simon Warwick is extensively trained and well-versed in the world of animation, but that doesn’t stop the veteran from exploring new technology in order to create the next best thing. His technical expertise in a wide range of software and tools like Unreal Engine 4, Maya, 3DSMax and After Effects makes him an invaluable asset to the Collarts team, not to mention his credentials as the only technical cinematic animator for Batman: Arkham City at Rocksteady Studios. Currently leading as CG Spectrum’s Department Head of Foundations, Simon hopes to pass along the skills gleaned from his years in the industry to passionate students keen to create and explore the wonderful world of game development.
With 18 years of experience in the video gaming industry, Justin Mohlman has helped bring dozens of game titles to life. His talent has seen him work across Disney Interactive, Epic Games, Robomondo, Midway Games and Phosphor Studios, among others; with his work splashed across large franchises including Tony Hawk, Kingdom Hearts, Mortal Kombat, Singularity and Stranglehold. As the acting Creative Director for The Rookies - the industry standard for animation, visual effects and gaming - alongside 12 years of experience as a higher education instructor across the United States, Justin brings his extensive industry knowledge to Collarts. When he isn’t teaching, he keeps busy as the Game Development Producer and Author at Epic Games, the developers renowned for Unreal Engine, Gears of War and Fortnite.
HONG CHAN LIM
Hong Chan Lim is the Principal Lead Character Artist at Blizzard Entertainment. Since beginning his career in 2004, he’s worked as an artist with Google and Amazon and as a 2D/3D Artist at Atari on Godzilla: Unleashed and at Electronic Arts (EA) on Superman Returns. Hong received his first official Senior Character Artist title at Carbine Studios/NCsoft Corp. while working on WILDSTAR and has since focused mainly on character and creature art. He’s been teaching his craft since 2014 and on top of bringing his wisdom to Collarts, he concurrently mentors the online 3D Modeling Course at CG Spectrum.
