These July holidays, Collarts is swinging its doors open to welcome high school students in Years 10, 11 and 12 to take part in our Winter Workshops!
Running between Saturday 2nd July to Sunday 3rd July, we'll be hosting 10 workshops held across our Wellington St, George St, Brunswick St, Dragon Image Studios, and Cromwell St campuses. These hands-on practical workshops are designed for students looking to hone their skills and learn the ropes of a career in their dream fields.
Each workshop will be led by our industry expert academics—bringing a wealth of knowledge from their respective avenues—and is specially tailored for VCE and VET students of all skill levels.

ANIMATION LAB
Saturday 2nd July
10AM—4PM | Cromwell St Campus
In this practical, hands-on workshop, students will be guided through the basics of 3D visual effects program Maya. We'll introduce you to this industry-standard software, while showing you all the essential knowledge you'll need to create your own 3D model. Whether you're a beginner or someone who's already familiar with the program, you'll soon be able to design and sculpt a 3D prop that could be used in a computer game, animation film or VR environment.

ACTING 101: BUILDING A CHARACTER

How do actors create full and rounded characters? This fun and interactive workshop looks at the basics of Stanaslavki's System and how actors can use their imagination to develop truth and depth in their roles. You'll take part in games for actors, relaxation and creative exercises, as well as specific scene work. This workshop will help you get to the next level in your acting in an enjoyable and non-intimidating way!

ENSEMBLE WORKSHOP

This workshop will be an immersive experience where you’ll join a band to perform songs on your chosen instrument! You'll get a taste of what it's like to play music with your peers and rehearse in a fully equipped rehearsal studio while gaining vital skills in collaborating with other musicians in a fun and supportive environment!

FASHION STYLING

In this workshop, students will learn the art of flat-lay styling in our purpose-built photography studio at the light-filled George St campus. This is a great opportunity to learn some of the important skills to help navigate studio equipment, studio lighting and learn techniques to style and stage fashion products in a professional environment.

FASHION DESIGN: WHAT IS OLD IS NEW AGAIN

Join our Head of Fashion & Sustainability, in this hands-on workshop that will show you how to transform what you thought was old, into a brand new garment. This workshop will give you an understanding of the sustainable fashion techniques taught in our Fashion & Sustainability course and will have you reinventing and repurposing a t-shirt for a more fashionable future.

WRITING A SHORT FILM

Join us in this practical, hands-on workshop and learn how to write a festival-worthy short film. This workshop will offer you an excellent understanding of short screenplay structure and teach you how to build complex and compelling characters.

In this workshop, students will learn to develop a range of techniques to carry out a basic measure-up and produce sketched floor plans. Participants will explore the concept of drafting and how Interior Designers use these principles to create floor plans, elevations, and other technical drawings.

In this workshop, you will learn how to shoot that perfect portrait! We will take you through the fundamentals of portraiture camera techniques, lighting, posing and working with models. We will cover multiple lighting techniques both in a professional photography studio and on location using natural light.

In this workshop, you will be getting hands-on with audio production in our state-of-the-art Auditorium. You will learn some cool techniques by setting up microphones on instruments, as well as tips for mixing live music using both analog and digital technology.

In this workshop, we will uncover the behind-the-scenes process of music production, and show you some of the essential tools a music producer uses in everyday music creation. During the workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of working with Ableton Live, which is one of the world's leading music production software.
