Continuing our vision to champion creativity in all forms, Collarts is excited to announce the launch of the School of Communication, bringing forth two new degrees alongside Collarts’ first-ever postgraduate course.
The new Communications division introduces Advertising, Marketing and Creative Writing to Collarts’ extensive course offering, opening its doors to anyone interested in creating a career within the diverse sector of the communications industry.
Perfect for emerging writers, the Creative Writing Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate comes as Collarts' first postgraduate course. It welcomes those with a related undergraduate degree to explore their storytelling skills, with units that focus on writing, editing and publishing.
For anyone passionate about the digital landscape, the Marketing degree and diploma have been designed to provide students technical and broad-based knowledge of media and communications, highlighting the importance of digital marketing, media and society, and critical thinking.
Meanwhile, students enrolled in Advertising will develop their critical skills through creative practice. The course, offered as a Bachelor or Diploma, responds to the increasing demand for adaptable communication specialists, ensuring all graduates are equipped to meet the challenges of an exciting and transforming industry.
Joining the three new courses, the new launch will also see existing courses Digital & Social Media and Entertainment Journalism both migrate from the School of Design and School of Entertainment respectively into the School of Communication umbrella.
Dean of Collarts, Professor Tim Moss notes that "launching the School of Communication at Collarts is an exciting moment for us. This is the first time that Collarts has offered postgraduate course options, and the move to Communication also enables us to take our existing focus on high-quality, industry-connected creative courses into a new field of study."
"We firmly believe that at the heart of success in industries such as advertising and marketing is the ability to approach any task with creativity and curiosity. We can’t wait to see graduates in Communication set out on that path with the ‘creative edge’ that comes from studying with Collarts," he shares.
Creative Writing intakes will commence in Trimester 3, 2021 while first intakes for Marketing and Advertising will commence in Trimester 1, 2022.
